To put it simply, I firmly believe in the concept of educating the "whole child". Schools have long since moved beyond the days of factory floors; students are most successful when their learning environments are safe, inclusive, and structured in ways that invite curiosity, develop grit, and allow for meaningful participation rather than just regurgitating knowledge or completing worksheets. Teaching is a relational and reflective practice, grounded in a deep understanding of students and how they learn, and building trust through consistent routines, clear expectations, and respectful relationships is foundational to my work in the classroom.
My instructional approach centers on experiences that are accessible, rigorous, and responsive. Using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and MTSS as guiding frameworks, I design lessons that provide multiple pathways for students to engage with content and demonstrate their understanding. I view students’ lived lives, including their linguistic and cultural backgrounds, as essential instructional assets. By intentionally incorporating opportunities for academic language development and collaboration, I strive to ensure that multilingual learners and students with diverse learning profiles have full access to grade-level curriculum.
I also believe that effective teaching extends well beyond the classroom walls and is strengthened through collaboration at all levels. I value working closely with colleagues, families, and school partners, such as parent-teacher groups, to create cohesive learning experiences and maintain high expectations for students. My background in school systems and instructional technology informs my ability to integrate tools, routines, and partnerships that support instruction, assessment, and communication in meaningful ways.
Ultimately, my goal as an educator is not only to teach academics, but to help students see themselves as fully capable learners and citizens, who are willing to take risks, reflect on their thinking, and actively engage in their own learning to become better people in our world. I strive to create classrooms that are student-centered, inclusive, and grounded in purpose, and to leave students with lasting memories and lessons to take with them on their future adventures. I’m excited to continue learning, refining my practice, and contributing to a school community that values collaboration, curiosity, and student-centered learning.
